Happy Friday Photon Community,
This week at Photon: we shipped auto-scaling and load balancing for iMessage lines, launched live mini app cards that update in place right inside the transcript, built the most brainrot 67 game on iMessage, and we're taking over SF for YC Startup School with Convex and a GoKart Rally across the city.
Feature Updates
Auto-Scaling and Load Balancing for iMessage
Your iMessage lines now scale and route themselves, so you no longer have to guess at capacity before a launch.
Every sampling cycle checks active user count, inbound growth rate, and line health: delivery success, queue depth, and response latency
New lines are provisioned within seconds when an existing one nears its cap, before deliverability takes a hit
One call to /lines/route returns the healthiest line, with an isBestAvailable flag so you know if it's a real pick or a fallback
Feature Updates
Mini apps now render live, interactive UI right inside the iMessage transcript, no sheet required.

Mini apps can now render live, interactive UI right inside the iMessage transcript: no tap, no sheet, the card is the app.
Set the live flag to true in app() and Spectrum renders it inline via Apple's MSMessageLiveLayout, right in the chat bubble
Multiple live cards from different apps can run in the same transcript at once, each with its own view controller
Cards update in place with a miniAppCardSession, so a payment card can flip to "Paid" without a new bubble
Falls back automatically to a tappable URL on SMS, Android, and older devices, so one app() call covers every platform

The 67 Challenge

Our marketing team built the most brainrot game on iMessage, counting from 1 to 67 by text.
Text 67.photon.codes to start your run
Fastest run to 67 wins $500
Try if you could beat the current leaderboard
We're Hiring
Backend Engineers (Intern + Fulltime)
Proficient in Swift, TypeScript (NodeJS, ConnectRPC, Hono), or Rust. Strong understanding of how production-level backend systems work, including OTel, Workflow Systems, Outbox, PostgreSQL, Service Mesh, and k8s.
That's all for this week.
We believe agents should reach everyone:
And we're building every day to make it happen.
